Matt Bishop keeping the dream alive

by Patrick, 9 February, 2012

Contender’s good friend Matt Bishop loves riding but this is really something. In these pictures he’s racing a 4 day 16 hour mountain bike race in Oman. Some people go to St. George looking for warm weather Matt goes to Oman. What a guy!

This looks like a long lonely road

Keep it rolling Matt

Seeing these pictures reminds me when R2-D2 was rolling along those canyons and the Jawas zapped him with that ray gun. Nerd alert!

Roller Race IV coming soon!

by Patrick, 3 February, 2012

By now I’m sure everyone knows that the Annual Contender Roller Race is getting close. It’s always a good time and there’s usually a fun twist thrown in there too. To give you a taste here’s a few pictures of the Roller Race the every first year we did it.

Lebron James rides to work

by Patrick, 1 February, 2012

I came across this on the web.  King James apparently thought there would be too much traffic to the game so what does he do?  He rides his bike of course.  But Jer-majesty doesn’t ride just any ordinary bike.  Not when you’re 6’8, you need a custom set up from Cannondale.  Maybe I can convince him to do the roller race.  Hit me up on Twitter Lebron!

I think I just might need to grow a sweet beard like that

Contender’s two man show

by Patrick, 13 January, 2012

Is it possible? Have the hipsters infiltrated Contender’s Reed and Eddie? Have their skinny jeans cut off all circulation to the brain? Wrong again. Reed and Eddie are actually an award winning duo that pack theaters all over the country. Who sees these shows? Well mostly inmates and degenerates for now but there’s been a real ground swell recently and tickets are going quick.

The fourth and fifth Beatles also known as the Reed and Eddie experience are currently on tour with their two man show. They bring a real showmanship to the stage. Don’t be fooled by the fluffy locks though, the word on the street is that there’s an extreme pyrotechnic display from those very mop tops in the encore and maybe a tiger. Don’t believe me? Just read some of the reviews.

“I don’t think this legally qualifies as theater” -Matt Simmons -Chicago Sun Times

“Half way through the show Eddie stopped to answer his cell phone” -Carrie Walsh -St. Louis Post

“It was opening night and Reed was already using an under study” -Robert Clifton -Washington Star

“It felt like I was watching an old man fall out of a wheelchair” -Brad Harris -Miami Globe

Contender’s National Champs

by Patrick, 9 January, 2012

Resident God Father of Cyclo-cross Lou Rollins claimed the National Championship recently in Madison Wisconsin.  This is Lou’s second national title.  Lou is quite the conqueror when it comes to the dirt.

Also securing the National title in her category was Kris Walker.  She pretty much ran away with many of the Utah races and she brought the goods to the big time.   Congratulations to you both and thanks for representing Contender bicycles at Nationals.

Cross bot 3000 to the line!

by , 26 October, 2011

This weekend is the annual Halloween costume cross race at Wheeler Farm. Tony Church aka Cross Bot 3000 as you may know is the reigning champ. He won a new Cannondale cross frame last year for his hard wired efforts and is dusting the competition on it this year. What are you up against you ask? How can you corrupt his server? Will you submit to him a syntax error? Will you pour soda all over his keyboard? Are all these computer references too much? Find out this weekend. Check him out in full flight.

Cross Out Cancer at Wheeler Farm

by , 24 October, 2011

It was a great weekend for cross. Not only was the racing great but everyone was out there for a great cause.

The next race is also at Wheeler and is the annual Halloween costume cross race. As you may know we have the current Costume Champ Tony Church. Enjoy the weather while it lasts.
