Featuring a new carbon frame and carbon swingarm the 2017 Scott Spark RC 900 World Cup is incredibly light with updated geometry for improved performance at top speed. The most noticeable difference over previous Spark models is the new vertical shock with all-carbon swingarm, a design that significantly reduces weight while improving lateral stiffness and responsiveness. The bike uses Boost axle spacing, which allows stronger wheel builds, improves tire clearance, and provides added space for a wider shock mount. Scott utilize this extra space to equip the new Spark with a Trunnion shock mount configuration that maximizes the Fox Nude shock’s 100mm of suspension throughout its travel path.
The frame itself is designed with a modern geometry package that lengthens the top-tube, shortens the chainstays and slackens the head-tube to accomplish the goal of creating a cross-country race bike that descends as well as it climbs. Compared to the previous model, the 2017 Spark has a longer reach and a shorter stem. It also has a lower stack height, increased standover height, with a slightly steeper seat-tube angle to put the rider forward for more power to the pedals. Overall, you’ll find yourself long and low on the bike, with optimal positioning for pedaling and control that we have found to translate into faster fun on the trails.
The 2017 Scott Spark RC 900 World Cup is available in four sizes, from small to extra-large to accommodate most adult riders. Being a race bike the Spark RC 900 World Cup is designed specifically for the 29” tire size with all changes to geometry and suspension put in place to increase its ability to easily roll over obstacles, maintain speed, respond quickly and climb like a rocket.
