The all new XC9 shoes from Shimano combine numerous technological advancements to make a better shoe for cross-country and cyclocross racers. These lightweight shoes – only 325 grams in size 42 – seamlessly combine stiffness and comfort unlike other high-end footwear. Using a one-piece upper made from durable Avail microfiber Shimano eliminates the stitching that causes chafing in other shoes. This microfiber is highly porous, like real leather, making it very breathable without stretching our losing its shape over time.
Unlike real leather these shoes can take on mud, water and dirt and will dry quickly without losing their shape. The durable upper on the Shimano S-Phyre Shoe XC9 is perforated for maximum ventilation and improved flexibility. As well, this dimpled surface creates golfball like aerodynamics so nothing about the XC9 will slow you down. To make these shoes as light as possible they have removed the standard lasting board that the is normally used to attach the uppers and bottoms together. Instead Shimano uses a one-piece heel cup – extending to the arch – that is bonded to a reinforced carbon sole for incredible stability and superior power transfer. Rugged rubber traction is added and a set of 18mm traction spikes included so you can run or climb through anything.
Holding the shoe in place is a set of BOA IP1 dials providing maximum adjustability. The two dials can be tightened or loosened independently and feature micro-adjustability with Powerzone wire lacing to allow a fit personalized to your foot. Shimano even throws in a fresh pair of socks so you get the most out of your new shoes. Shimano uses the same level of engineering that goes into their XTR components to make their new XC9 shoes the most technologically advanced trail footwear yet.
