Quincy, California might just be the quintessential gold rush town of Northern California. The town may only have a population of 1,700 people, but Quincy is a hub for rock climbing, hiking, and the Grinduro gravel race. For Juliana, it is only on roads (and trails!) like these that a bike like the new Juliana Quincy gravel bike would be born. Together with the revamped Santa Cruz Stigmata, the Quincy is worth its weight in gold, ready to be ridden all day, nearly anywhere. Juliana Quincy CC - Contender Bicycles For those unfamiliar with the event, Grinduro loops 7,500 feet of climbing in 60 miles through the Sierra Nevada Mountains in California. With a mix of smooth pavement, hardpack dirt, and gravel, as well as long climbs and flowy singletrack, Grinduro riders aim to bring a bike that is comfortable, fun, and is confidence-inspiring on and off-road. The Quincy and Stigmata are meant to excel in situations like this. Both bikes feature three bottle cage mounts, plus a frame bag mount on the top tube, fender mounts to keep tire spray off of you and your friends, and wild tire clearance - up to a 700 x 45c or 27.5 x 2.1” MTB kind of wild. Santa Cruz Stigmata - Juliana Quincy - Contender Bicycles The Juliana Quincy and Santa Cruz Stigmata share the same CC-grade carbon frame, using a carbon layup based off of the Highball. No idea what weights look like, but we suspect that like all Santa Cruz models, the Quincy and Stigmata are geared toward strength rather than being the lightest bike on the block. They even share the same geometry; compared to the previous Stigmata cyclocross bike, these bikes receive more bottom bracket drop for greater stability through imperfect surfaces, ~10 mm additional stack across all sizes, and internal cable routing for a dropper seatpost. Santa Cruz Stigmata CC Gravel Bike Detail - Contender Bicycles Outside of the beautiful blue carbon clearcoat of the Juliana Quincy, the main difference between the two bikes is that the Quincy adds a 49 cm frame to fit riders 5’0” and up, as well as women's specific touch points abound. Rejoice riders of shorter stature rejoice, for you finally have another gravel bike options that fits properly! Juliana Quincy CC Paint Job - Contender Bicycles Fitting in with the revised frameset is a specification sheet that befits that of a bike made for Grinduro. Riders receive a range of 2x options including Shimano Ultegra and SRAM RED eTap, as well as 1x options including SRAM Rival and Force eTap AXS. Force eTap AXS receives a SRAM XO1 AXS derailleur and 10-50t cassette, perfect for the steep climbs of Grinduro California and the myriad dirt road climbs in Northern Utah. Force eTap AXS models come with 650b wheels, while Rival, Ultegra, and RED eTap AXS come with 700c wheels stock. Santa Cruz Reserve carbon wheels are an option for SRAM eTap AXS models straight from the factory, though we’re more than happy to help you into a set of carbon wheels on any model, regardless of spec.
