The all new 2017 Scott Spark 700 Plus Tuned takes Scott’s award-winning Spark platform and revamps the design for 2017 to accommodate 27.5 plus size tires. The Spark 700 Plus tuned benefits from the design and construction updates Scott has applied to the rest of the Spark line for 2017. Starting with a lightweight carbon frame, the geometry and fit have been modernized for greater versatility and to get the most out of its wider tires. As with other 2017 Spark models the 700 Plus Tuned gets the new Trunnion mounted, rear suspension configuration attached to an all-carbon swingarm. To keep a clean carbon structure, the rear shock is offset to the non-drive side for maximum stiffness for quick handling.Combined with Boost axle spacing and a wider shock mount, the Spark 700 Plus Tuned enjoys 120mm of travel for unprecedented stability and control on rough terrain.
For the new Spark 700 Plus Tuned, Scott utilizes a solid rear triangle, molding the chainstays and seatstays into a single piece. Scott engineered flex into the seatstays to make up for the lack of rear pivot, increasing stiffness, decreasing maintenance, and saving weight. Scott utilizes a chainstay-mounted post mount for the rear hydraulic brake which keeps the seatstay free to flex and minimizes brake jack. Rounding out the rear end is an integrated thru-axle system that threads into the derailleur hanger.
Both the 130mm Fox 34 Float Factory fork and the rear 120mm Fox Nude Trunnion shock are Kashima coated for maximum protection, and feature travel control vis Scott’s proven TwinLoc bar-mounted remote lever. A Fox Transfer dropper post (Kashima coated to match the shock and fork) is standard equipment, enabling you to ride technical descents with more confidence, control, and speed. Also, a Sram XX1 Eagle 1×12 drivetrain shifts smoothly throughout a wide range of gears to make climbing easy and lightweight but powerful Sram Level Ultimate Disc brakes with 180mm rotors to slow you down quickly. Finishing off the bike are 27.5 x 2.8″ Maxxis Rekon TR Tubeless Ready plus tires mounted to Syncros 35mm wide rims to provide a great balance of traction and low rolling resistance.
With all of these component and construction changes, the 2017 Scott Spark 700 Plus Tuned also received a new geometry. Scott has followed with current trends, running a longer reach matched with a shorter stem for better high-speed stability and control. The headtube angle is also slackened to give even better descending prowess. To keep the bike lively, Scott reduced stack height and shortened chainstays while steepening the seat-tube angle. These geometry tweaks will ensure the new Spark Plus will be fun to ride on any trail while keeping with the cross-country performance that has made the Spark famous.
The 2017 Scott Spark 700 Plus Tuned is available in four sizes, small – x-large, to fit most adult sized riders. With its combination of wide tires and improved suspension this is one bike that will redefine your riding style for years to come.
