While the SuperX is the show-stopping wide tire bike of the Cannondale line, it’s the Cannondale CAADX that’s the workhorse. The lightweight alloy frame of the 2019 Cannondale CAADX SE 105 pairs to a full carbon fork to make for a bike ready for cyclocross, gravel, commuting, or anything you’d want to do.
Cannondale knows aluminum, and the CAADX uses their C2 alloy. It uses the same proven geometry as their SuperX; OutFront Steering Geometry offers drama-free stability on technical courses and potholed streets but maintains quick-handling agility everywhere else. The flattened top tube is perfect for shouldering. Subtle rack mounts, a removable seat stay fender mount and hidden fork fender mounts expand its usability without affecting its racy looks.
Cannondale’s OutFront geometry improves for off-road stability by increasing effective trail, while retaining the agility to deal with technical trails. This makes for a fun ride on variable surfaces and ability to negotiate obstacles at slower speeds, while still providing a lot of confidence when descending fast. However, you don’t get the asymmetric chainstays of the SuperX, meaning tire clearance maxes out around 38c.
The 2019 Cannondale CAADX SE 105 cyclocross bike uses an alloy frame and full carbon fork, and pairs it to a Shimano 105 mechanical 11 speed drivetrain and Cannondale Si cranks. WTB ST i19 TCS Rims to Formula wheels, TRP Spyre mechanical brakes, WTB Riddler 700 x 37c tires, and a Cannondale alloy cockpit complete the build.
