Not everyone can (or wants to) be a pro World Tour rider. However, after watching the Yates brothers on Michelton-SCOTT long enough, one might want to ride what they’re climbing on. Enter the 2019 SCOTT Addict RC Pro Disc road bike, which features the exact same frame and colorway as your favorite World Tour team. Its a racer just for you, ready for a long day of climbing, racing, and riding.
The RC – or Racing Concept – in the Addict RC name means the bike is focused on being the most efficient bike possible. A superlight HMX carbon frame and fork features race geometry used on the Michelton-SCOTT team bike, designed to fit the demands of a myriad of World Tour Teams. The disc brake model features an asymmetric rear triangle and lengthened chainstays to improve shifting quality of Shimano drivetrains and offer substantial clearance for 28c tires. All in, the bike weighs just 15.52 pounds without pedals.
SCOTT’s Addict RC owes its light weight not only to the superb high-end components, but also to the new frameset which – according to the Swiss brand – sets a new benchmark for weight and stiffness. Unlike most bikes from the competition, the frame of the Addict doesn’t require an additional external carbon layer, which allows them to save even more weight. And out of the saddle, the Addict feels stout in a way that belies its low weight nature. The wide 700 x 28c tires are fast but do quite a bit to improve riding comfort and improve grip on descents.
The 2019 SCOTT Addict RC Pro Disc features an extremely lightweight HMX Carbon frame and fork, a Shimano Dura-Ace mechanical R9100 drivetrain, and Syncros Meritt 1.0 35 Disc carbon clincher wheels. Syncros carbon components and Schwalbe ONE V-Guard 700 x 28c tires complete the build. The Addict RC Disc is available in seven sizes (XXS/47 – XXL/61 cm).
