Bikes are for everyone. Or at least, they should be. If there’s any downside, it’s that riders on the shorter end of the spectrum get a bike that is compromised in one way or another. The 2019 SCOTT Spark 700 full suspension mountain bike is optimised for anyone looking for top end performance and a bike fit for shorter riders.
Someone responsible with the development of this generation’s SCOTT Spark said that it was developed with cross country DNA, but bred amongst trail bikes. This shows immediately in the bike’s suspension rocker design. Instead of being mounted along the top tube, the new shock mounts along the seat tube to a beefed up bottom bracket. This trunnion-mount style not only promises greater small-bump sensitivity, it also ramps up as more travel is used to prevent the 120mm shock from bottoming out. A pivotless alloy swingarm cuts weight, and improves reliability and further stiffness out of the saddle. Scott also adds their TwinLoc suspension remote lever, the ideal companion for ever-changing terrain. Co-developed with Fox, this lever toggles between three distinct suspension settings (open, traction, lockout), each with its own spring compression and damping settings to adapt the bike to any type of situation it might have in front of it. With 120mm suspension travel, this trail bike is ready for anyone looking to ride some of the best tech on the market
Make no mistake, if both climbing and descending are a priority, and only one bike can do it, the 2019 SCOTT Spark 700 is the correct choice. It features an alloy frame and swingarm, a SRAM NX Eagle drivetrain, a Fox 32 Rhythm fork, a Fox NUDE EVOL rear shock, and a Syncros 2.0 dropper seatpost. A Syncros Silverton 2.5 wheelset is employed to keep the bike rolling ahead, Shimano SLX brakes slow the party down when appropriate, and Syncros parts complete the bike. This iteration of the Spark is available in sizes extra-small and small, and ideal for riders up to 5’0” tall.
