We’ve always admired the BMC Teammachine from a distance. Build it as an ultralight climbing bike, a burly cobble-consuming racer, or a consumate all-arounder, and the Teammachine has always felt at home. The 2020 BMC Teammachine SLR01 TWO road bike is as worthy for the road as ever. It carves corners with precision, punches up climbs, and is ready for the TdF and your favorite road ride alike.
BMC started by refining their design through their Advanced Composite Evolution (ACE) supercomputer algorithm. They tested over 34,000 virtual variations of the frame, with an additional 18,000 variations for this new generation before settling on an optimal mix of stiffness, overall compliance, and handling capability. This has led to greater variation in carbon molding between frame sizes to maintain similar ride characteristics across all sizes. BMC also use a D-shaped seatpost, with a flat back that allows for greater flex and more compliance. Thanks to new direct-mount brakes, the tire fits up to a 28 mm tire while improving rim braking power. Finally, a Dual Transmission integration (DTi) mount keeps cables or wiring placed cleanly – a Shimano Di2 junction box fits perfectly in there!
The BMC Teammachine SLR 01 TWO is built with a Shimano Ultegra Di2 R8000 electronic group, complemented by DT Swiss P1800 Spline tubeless-ready wheels, BMC handlebars, a Fizik Antares R7 saddle, and Vittoria Corsa 700 x 25c tires. Teammachine SLR01 is available in six sizes ranging from 47 to 61 cm.
