The all-new Cannondale SuperSix EVO is a wholesale redesign of the American brand’s top-level race road bike. In an effort to make this the best pure road bike they could make, Cannondale worked hard to maintain the low weight and smart handling of the previous bike while making every measurable aspect of the bike better than before. The end result is the basis for the 2020 Cannondale SuperSix EVO Hi-MOD Disc Ultegra Di2 road bike, a culmination of technologies that exude speed above else.
Each SuperSix EVO frame features an optimized carbon fiber tubeset in an effort to improve aerodynamics. The obvious move was to route cables internally and to create a spot for a downtube junction box, much like the Synapse and SystemSix. The headtube now features a deeper headtube section that has an opening to route cabling internally for minimum drag. The results are in the numbers: overall drag decreases by a substantial 30 watts, or 30% compared to the outgoing SuperSix EVO, with better aerodynamics than basically every major competitor on the market at up to +/- 20-degrees yaw.
Top-spec models with the HollowGram KNOT stem feature fully internal cable routing, while other models have an adaptor to keep everything in place. Alongside that stem is the HollowGram SAVE SystemBar, also found on Cannondale’s other drop bar bikes. Unlike other integrated aero bars, the SystemBar offers up to 8-degrees of pitch adjustment and 6 mm of deflection that eats up road vibrations. You’ll also find higher spec models also receive HollowGram 45 KNOT wheels, which are based on the design of the HollowGram wheels on the SystemSix.
Besides the serious gains in aerodynamic efficiency, Cannondale have done a great job in making small updates to the bike’s geometry. Its a handy handler at speed, with a touch more stability than before, which makes it easier for riders to get the most out of their bike. Fit measurements, namely reach and stack, change slightly as well to accommodate a wider range of riders looking for a bit of relief from the ultra-aggressive fit of the original SuperSix EVO frames.
The 2020 Cannondale SuperSix EVO Hi-MOD Disc Ultegra Di2 features the brand’s Hi-MOD carbon frame and fork, and pairs it to a Shimano Ultegra Di2 R8070 drivetrain. Cannondale comes up big in the components department. A HollowGram crank with a power2max built-in power meter pairs to a HollowGram 45 KNOT SL wheelset with DT Swiss internals. HollowGram SystemBar SAVE handlebars, a HollowGram KNOT aero stem, and D-shaped aero seatpost complete the build. The SuperSix EVO is available in eight sizes (44-62 cm).
