Cannondale is, if anything, a master of alloy. Their inception is based around pioneering aluminum frame construction, and the latest 2020 Cannondale Synapse Disc Sora road bike is testament to that. It offers impressive comfort, a stiff platform, and plenty of kit at a low price.
Each Synapse Disc uses Cannondale’s C2 SmartForm alloy, with an expanding downtube that flattens right down on its way to the seat-tube for vertical compliance. The stays are similarly elaborate, with cross-sections that vary continuously along their length. A full carbon fork cuts substantial weight off the bike as well, while improving steering directness and responsiveness. On the road, this translates into a bike that responds well to rider inputs, aided by well-balanced geometry that offers neutral turn in. Even as an alloy frame, it is smooth over rough roads, with vibrations kept to a minimum.
The 2020 Cannondale Synapse Disc Sora road bike uses an alloy frame and full carbon fork, and pairs it to a nine speed Shimano Sora drivetrain, Promax Decoder R disc brakes, and an FSA Vero crankset. RD Disc wheels, and Cannondale finishing kit complete the build. The Synapse Disc is available in four sizes (44 cm – 54 cm).
