The 2020 SCOTT Spark 910 trail bike is the ideal balance of trail bike for the average mountain biker. All-day epics? Not a problem. Local lunchtime rides? The Spark 900 is SCOTT’s preferred tool for the job. Between it’s 120 mm suspension travel and 12-speed Shimano XTR drivetrain, the Spark 900 is ready to ride for just about everything in and around Utah.
The Spark 910 starts life with SCOTT’s HMF carbon fiber frame and alloy swingarm. SCOTT then employs their TwinLoc suspension remote lever, which allows the bike to change between three unique suspension settings (full travel, traction mode, lockout) based on terrain. This isn’t just a three-position lockout; the traction mode closes an air chamber in the rear shock and changes its overall spring rate, and firms up the spring rate of the fork as well. Traction mode overall steepens the bike’s seat tube angle, raises the bottom bracket, and brings the front wheel in closer to allow for an extremely efficient climber without sacrificing suspension on the descent.
The Spark also receives an upgraded 44mm-offset fork for greater stability at high speeds and clearance for up to a 29 x 2.6” tire. There’s also slack 67.2-degree head tube angle, long reach, and a just-right bottom bracket height. It corners well, and it feels superbike-quick when climbing, translating every bit of effort into forward momentum.
The 2020 SCOTT Spark 910 is the Spark in full glory, just as SCOTT imagined it. A Shimano XT M8100 12-speed drivetrain pair to a Fox 34 SC Performance Elite 120mm fork, Fox NUDE EVOL 120mm rear shock, and Fox Transfer dropper seatpost. Shimano offers their Shimano XT M8 100 brakes, Syncros contribute their Syncros Silverton 1.5 alloy wheelset and provide their best alloy handlebar, stem, and saddle. The bike is available in four sizes (S-XL) and weighs in at 27.35 lbs.
