If you haven’t noticed, SCOTT is killing the cross-country mountain bike game. The Spark RC isn’t just lighter than the competition (in typical SCOTT fashion), it’s more efficient and offers smooth handling that allows racers and weekend warriors alike to perform at their very best. The 2020 SCOTT Spark RC 900 Pro combines that with a lightweight carbon frame, efficient suspension, and a Shimano XTR 12-speed drivetrain.
The Spark platform is designed to not only provide a lighter and stiffer frameset but one that could succeed in the real world through superior suspension kinematics. Part of that has to do with it’s optimized cross country geometry, with a slack head angle, ideal seat tube angle, short chainstays, and low stack height to ensure the Nino Schurter in us all can get low enough on the bike. SCOTT pair their updated design to their TwinLoc suspension remote lever, allowing riders to adapt to terrain using three different suspension settings (full travel, traction mode, lockout). TwinLoc is actuated by cleverly hidden cabling to give the bike a stealthy no-cable look, which along with the low weight of a carbon HMF frame and stiff pedaling platform, make for a faster, more efficient Spark RC Pro.
The SCOTT Spark RC 900 Pro is equipped to perform at the very highest level. Starting with the HMF carbon frame and swingarm, a Shimano XTR M9100 drivetrain provides substantial gear range for a 1x drivetrain, while the RockShox SID RL3 Air fork and a Fox NUDE EVOL rear shock (100 mm each) keep your ride under control. The bike also features a DT Swiss X1700 Spline CL wheelset, a Syncros carbon bar and seatpost, Syncros stem, and Maxxis Rekon Race tires. This bike is available in four sizes (S-XL), and a medium weighs in at 23.81 pounds.
