Cervelo has broken new ground and is set to break speed records with their amazing 2017 Cervelo P5X Ultegra Di2 8060 triathlon bike. Already responsible for the most winning and most popular tri bikes ever, Cervelo has re-written the book on fast design. When turning the P5x concept into reality they first targeted the frame’s aerodynamics and knew that a shift away from the traditional diamond shape was needed to make the P5X faster than anything before. With an open X frame – also referred to as beam design – Its looks might be controversial but the new found speed will speak for itself.
Adding to the fast and furious nature of this beast, Cervelo has considered all aspects of the P5X with well thought-out solutions for on-bike hydration, nutrition storage, and designing for easy packing and shipping. The handlebar actually folds in half to easily break the bike down for travel. On the bike your initial sizing is made easy with a highly-integrated handlebar, and quickly adjustable saddle, and arm rests. As well, complete disassembly is not required for follow-up changes to your fit, making long-term use of the P5X more comfortable and more powerful than any tri bike you have owned.
The P5x complete is available in two iterations, the top end SRAM eTap with ENVE edition, alongside a second version with proven Ultegra Di2 8060 and HED wheels. Both will use the same groundbreaking frame-set built up with different parts. Cervelo has chosen to offer the P5x in small, medium, large and extra-large size options. Your best size will be based on reach and stack measurements as opposed to just saddle height. Another major difference, for most triathletes, will be the inclusion of disc brakes on the P5x. One way or another more road and tri bikes will come out of the box with disc brakes with some advantages being; better stopping and speed control in all weather conditions, no more overheating of expensive carbon rims and easier disassembly of the bike for shipping. For now these bikes have the TRP HY/RD brakes that use standard mechanical brake cables with a hydraulic reservoir in the caliper for easy maintenance combined with superior braking power.
2017 will be a big year for Cervelo and the P5X will be leading the way with its bold look and advanced aerodynamics. Please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions about this innovative new bike.
