Let’s go back to 2010 and remember some of our favorite cycling apparel trends. Everywhere you’d look, there were bright colors on the bike and on clothing, seen as a revolt against people taking themselves and the sport too seriously. This trend spilled into road bikes and road cycling apparel, as the average kit usually bordered on garish. Years removed from bright pastels and highlighter yellow, we have what we think is the perfect balance of understated and expressive: the Contender Shazam Kit. This includes the Giro Contender Shazam Chrono Expert Bib Short.
The Giro Contender Shazam Chrono Expert Bib Short is based on the Giro Chrono Expert bib short. The nylon-lycra blend belongs to the Giro Renew Series, which uses recycled nylon and polyester used form reclaimed fishing nets and other ocean debris in conjunction with premium Italian fabrics. The bib short manages to still be durable, comfortable and long-lasting, a perfect match to our “bolt from the blue” ethos.
This bib short uses a subtle compression leg band to keep the bib in place and matches it to a triple-density foam chamois and a vented front as well. The breathable mesh straps are fairly minimal but are anatomically designed and feature an extra pocket on the back for gear if you’re not using a jersey or tech tee with pockets.
The Giro Contender Shazam Chrono Expert Bib Short is available in four sizes (S-XL). Fit is near-Italian and geared toward compression, with just a touch more roominess than the likes of Assos, Giordana, or Q36.5. See our complete Contender Shazam kit in men’s and women’s versions HERE.
