The Giro Imperial Cycling Shoe is Giro’s latest and greatest, combining the technologies developed with the ultralight Giro Prolight Techlace shoe, and making them more durable, versatile, and stiffer as well. Add in a dual-Boa enclosure and an ultra-breathable upper, and the new Imperial promises to be Giro’s best shoe yet.
Giro wanted to make a full-featured shoe that rivals the minimalist designs of Empire and Prolight Techlace in weight but can regularly stand the rigors of pro-level training and riding. The key here starts with it’s Synchwire upper. Synchwire, paired to the thermal-welded Teijin TPU adds structural support exactly where it’s needed, and adds durability everywhere without sacrificing the breathability of a mesh upper. Add in the dual Boa IP1 buckles and soft lace guides, and Giro promises adjustability and second skin-levels of fit not unlike a traditional lace-up shoe.
Underneath, the Imperial uses a top-level Easton EC90 SLX2 carbon sole with additional resin than the previous SLX sole for greater durability. Giro’s Super Natural footbed has three arch support options for optimal pedaling efficiency. The Giro Imperial Cycling Shoe weighs in at 215 grams in a size 42.5.
The Giro Imperial Cycling Shoe is offered in fourteen sizes (39-48), with half sizes between sizes 42-46. Imperial is offered in three colorways. This also includes Giro’s 60-Day Fit Guarantee, which allows riders sixty days to decide whether this shoe is for them. If not, exchange for a full refund.
