Responding to the growing demand of riders who want an all-road bike, and with the increasing popularity of gravel racing, in 2017 Orbea has responded with the Orbea Terra M20-D. Able to handle gravel, dirt, the cyclocross course, or a quick training ride on the pavement, the Orbea Terra M20-D does it all. It is versatile with its ability to accommodate larger tires, give more frame and fork clearance, and offer a comfortable geometry. With comfort and control, the Terra will carry you over the roughest surface conditions.
Aiding in the Orbea Terra’s versatility is its carefully designed geometry. It utilizes a longer wheel base for increased comfort, longer chainstays for a more compliant backend, a lower bottom bracket for more stability when descending, and a higher stack height with a shorter reach for more comfort and stability when riding over rough surfaces. This geometry is comfortable enough for all-day epics while still snappy enough for the cyclocross course.
Using a Monocoque Performance carbon frame and fork, this bike was specifically built for compliance and durability under rough road conditions, while still remaining lightweight and efficient for speed and acceleration. The frame and fork were designed with small, strategic sections responsible for absorbing vibrations. This special lay-up at the head tube, seat tube/top tube joint, above the rear dropouts and at the fork dropouts, was specifically designed to smooth out the roughness for the road for a more controlled ride that is easier on your muscles over time.
In addition to compliance, the specially designed small sections of the Orbea Terra also allow for greater tire clearance and thus more versatility. You can swap out tire sizes depending on your ride, with the Terra optimized for a 40mm gravel tire down to a 28c road tire. The Orbea Terra M20-D features knobby Schwable G-One all around tires on durable and fast Mavic Aksium Disc Clincher wheels. The wheels use a 12 x 100 and 12 x 142mm thru axle front and rear and the bike’s PF30 bottom bracket shell pairs with a powerful Shimano Ultegra drivetrain to keep you efficiently riding and able to produce quick acceleration. Shimano R805 hydraulic disc brakes keep the bike’s handling quick and precise with all cables and brake hoses routed inside the frame and fork to maintain clean lines. The Orbea Terra M20-D uses FSA components for the handlebar, stem, and seatpost; chain security so you can ride without fear of your chain dropping; and for a final touch, the bike features full fender and rear rack mounts for when your rides get extra adventurous.
The Orbea Terra M20-D is available in five sizes, X-Small – X-Large. It is also available in five, eye-catching paint jobs: Green-Black (Gloss), Black (Satin-Gloss), Blue-Red (Gloss), Grey-Blue (Gloss), and Anthracite-Yellow (Satin).
