For years, riders who wanted to ride in cold or rainy weather have had to either under dress for the weather, or they’ve had to sweat bullets underneath a layer that doesn’t breathe well. Recently, fabrics have improved to the point that companies claim to have jerseys that somehow maintain breathability, retain heat when needed, and provide moisture protection without being heavy or scratchy. Pearl Izumi have succeeded in their efforts, and the Pearl Izumi Men’s Pro Pursuit Long Sleeve Wind Jersey claims to do everything simply and effectively.
The Pearl Izumi Men’s Pro Pursuit Long Sleeve Wind Jersey features their Softshell Lite fabric on the front torso and top of the jersey’s sleeves. This fabric features a stretchy, breathable membrane to protect from light moisture, while the rest of the fabric does an excellent job at retaining body heat without being excessive. The back, shoulders, and lower sleeves use a secondary softer fabric that is better suited to pulling moisture from the skin without maintaining odors. The top of the full-length zipper is covered by a storm flap to provide additional warmth against cold winds. Reflective elements around the lower back of the jersey feature small reflective elements to improve low-light visibility.
This jersey uses an elastic waist to keep the jersey in place during hard efforts, and it includes three back pockets to carry a phone, tools, or keys. Fit is more performance oriented than Pearl Izumi’s Escape clothing line, and as such is form-fitting without being constricting. Five sizes (S-XXL) are available, in either a Screaming Yellow and Black, or a full black colorway.
