Product Description
Allied Cycle Works focuses on building, designing, and engineering the finest bicycles on earth, right here in the United States. They started with skinny tires on the Allied Alfa road bike, and over time each new bike has gone wider and wider. This leads us to the Able gravel bike, which has more tire clearance than even their Allroad. We all want to ride dirt, but the Allied Able Force 1 Bike is geared to ride harder and faster.
Allied had a few goals in mind with the Able: keep the rear end just as snappy as the Allroad with 420 mm chainstays, fit a 700 x 43c tire with plenty of mud clearance, and make sure the front end is geared toward offroad riding. The result is a bike that fits a 700 x 47c (think a 29 x 1.9” XC tire) or a 650 x 55b (think a 27.5 x 2.1”) tire up front, and up to a 700 x 43c tire out back. Able also manages to handle with relative aplomb through rocky doubletrack and straight line dirt roads alike.
Any conversation about this bike starts with that elevated chainstay, which is the key to the bike's impressive tire clearance and handling. The elevated chainstay makes the bike 1x only but eliminates potential chain slap, while being stiffer than a typical dropped chainstay. Outside of a few outliers, every bike gets a 71-degree angle with a 73.25 or 74-degree seat tube angle. The stack and reach numbers reflect that of a modern XC bike, with the end result being a bike that places the rider in a good climbing position while maintaining a front end that is calm over rough terrain. Other frame details unique to the Able include three bottle mounts, a top tube bento box mount, and fender mounts front and rear.
The Allied Able Force 1 Bike comes in five sizes (XS-XL), in two colorways. This build features a SRAM Force 1 mechanical 1 x 11 drivetrain and Easton EA70 AX wheels. Easton also offers their Easton EA70 AX handlebar, EA90 stem, EA70 seatpost, and an 11-42t 11-speed cassette. We also offer the Able frameset to help you build your next dream bike.
