Pearl Izumi Elite Softshell Gel Glove
One of the worst feelings in the world is grabbing for your brake levers in the winter and not really feeling them due to cold wind or precipitation. A good pair of gloves combats this; it can make all the difference in correctly feeling the brakes modulate. Pearl Izumi knows how important this can be, and as such they’ve released the Pearl Izumi Elite Softshell Gel glove, which keeps fingers plenty warm to be operable, with a few other nice touches.
While the Elite Softshell Gel glove is built to the same temperature ratings as the more-economical Select Softshell glove, this does it in a much more svelte package, with the addition of Gel in the palm. It starts with a soft-touch fleece interior to wick away moisture, and pairs it to their 100g Primaloft ® insulation to keep the glove thin but warm. The wrist cuffs are extra long to provide ample coverage, while Pearl Izumi’s Softshell material is used on the back of the hand, where hands need the most wind and moisture protection. Palms are covered by synthetic leather, and are adorned with gel inserts for greater comfort. Touch screen-sensitive pieces are placed for the thumb and pointer finger for use with your phone, tablet, or cycling computer.
The Pearl Izumi Elite Softshell Gel glove works ideally for temperatures between 35 to 40 degrees Fahrenheit, and ensure that you’ll be able to comfortably modulate your brakes in the thick of the winter ride. It is available in five sizes (S-XXL) in Black or Screaming Yellow colorways.
