SCOTT utilized FEA, Finite Element Analysis, software in order to map out an optimized carbon lay-up. With FEA, they simulated force on virtual models of the frame while incorporating all physical phenomena that exist in the real world. This intensive process yields an optimized surface area for the frame, a super light construction, and a compact frame without sacrificing the stiffness or durability. 

On a hardtail you want your frame to flex so as to provide a comfortable ride without giving up critical structural integrity. In their virtual modeling process SCOTT worked meticulously to create controlled flex in the seatstays, seat-tube, and top-tube. The slight flex in zones related directly to comfort keeps you from fatiguing as easily as you would in other carbon frames with less optimized fiber arrangements. 

We know that you like to bounce around on some of the most technical terrain, and so does SCOTT. That’s why they’ve included the Scale chain guide. This chain guide weighs in at just 23g, and is able to accommodate 30T to 36T chainrings. The guide is designed to provide stability to the chain and to decrease noise while you blur up and down the mountain.
