Product Details
The OPEN UPPER CONCEPT marks a new chapter for OPEN, introducing a bold direction for their next generation of bikes. This exclusive model is a limited-edition concept, available in just two sizes (Medium and Large) with only 125 units per size to celebrate the OPEN 12.5 milestone. Once the molds are retired, this unique frame will never be produced again, making it a rare collector's item. If you don't fit into the available sizes, there's no need to worry; the full range of U.P. models, with five sizes, will be released in Spring.
So why a concept bike? OPEN’s philosophy has always focused on simplicity and longevity, with innovation aimed at refining what already works. The U.P.PER. CONCE.PT reflects this mindset, introducing new shapes and design features while staying true to the brand’s DNA. This bike highlights the balance between aerodynamics and comfort, a core principle for OPEN, especially in gravel riding. While aerodynamic gains can offer benefits, comfort and compliance are essential for achieving real-world speed. These qualities help riders maintain their position and power over longer periods.
The new frame includes a subtly reshaped downtube, designed to improve airfoil efficiency without compromising compliance. The headtube is also narrower and deeper, reducing drag while maintaining the smooth ride quality that OPEN is known for. With a clean and minimalist design featuring straight chainstays, no front derailleur mounts, and no fender mounts, the UPPER CONCEPT focuses purely on performance and aerodynamics, eliminating unnecessary complexity.
This bike is not just a concept. It is the first frame produced in collaboration with CarbonTeam in Portugal, marking a shift to European production that ensures an even higher level of quality and craftsmanship. Although manufacturing in Europe increases production costs, OPEN has committed to this path to deliver improved customization and performance while keeping pricing as close as possible to current models.
The UPPER CONCEPT represents more than just a new frame. It is a milestone and a limited-edition creation that embodies everything OPEN stands for: innovation, performance, and craftsmanship.
