BMC recently released their latest in the Mpc family with the Teammachine R Masterpiece. The Masterpiece is the culmination of BMC’s years of carbon design and optimizes performance above all else.
What is special about a Masterpiece frame?
Mpc is a labor-intensive production method that offers exceptional precision in fiber orientation, ensuring carbon pieces are placed exactly where they need to be. This meticulous process eliminates the excess material typically used for margin of error, resulting in a sleek, unfinished look—no fillers, no paint to hide imperfections, and no sanding that could potentially damage fibers.
Mpc allows frames to be molded as a single piece, eliminating the need for bonding front and rear triangles, which can create weak points and add unnecessary weight. This method enhances the continuous flow of fibers throughout critical areas of the frame, maximizing the benefits of carbon fiber.
For those who appreciate aesthetics, Mpc produces a stunning, jewel-like finish. The carefully oriented fibers and nude appearance transform the frame into a work of art, while still delivering the performance akin to a BMC SLR01 or Teammachine R on the road.
For performance enthusiasts, Mpc takes the already impressive performance of BMC's production framesets, referred to as the 01 models, to another level. What is different from the Teammachine R?
The biggest question about the Teammachine R Mpc, is what makes it better, from the already premium Teammachine R 01. The first difference is a 7.5% reduction of weight from the production model. While a 110g diet is not a drastic improvement, the construction methods used by BMC on the Mpc also add to the bikes ride quality and performance. Laying the carbon up in one continuous mold allows intact, carbon sheets that run through the bottom bracket and in the area where the seatstays join the seatube. This process allows for the bike to keep the same stiffness as the 01, while decreasing the weight. This gives the bike the best stiffness to weight ratio that currently exist.
The manufacturing process require no aftercare such as fillers and sanding when the frame is removed from the mold with the exception of being polished. This gives the frame its unique glossy carbon appearance, which is characteristic of all the Mpc frames. The lack of paint limits scratches and provides a finish that looks amazing and last longer.
The Teammachine R Mpc is available as a frameset alone, allowing you to choose the perfect BMC ICS one-piece cockpit to finish the bike. With bar widths from 36-42cm, and stem lengths from 90mm to 130mm, enabling you to get you perfect bike fit. At $8999 this is a premium frameset, with a focus on performance above all else.
