Ride Review: Van Rysel RCR-F

Written by Contender Bicycles on April 17, 2026

The Van Rysel RCR-F is a pure aero road bike. It is stiff, fast, and built for riders who want speed on flat and rolling roads. This is not an endurance bike or an all-rounder. It is a race-focused machine with a clear purpose.

First Impressions

Right away, the RCR-F feels direct and aggressive. It wants to be ridden at speed, especially once you get into the drops and settle into an aerodynamic position. At 17.6 pounds, with a high-modulus carbon frame and aero development from Swiss Side, its intent is obvious.

On the Road

The standout trait is responsiveness. The bike reacts immediately when you press on the pedals, with a very firm, efficient feel. On flatter roads and during sprint efforts, it feels sharp, quick, and eager to keep carrying speed.

Handling is another highlight. The RCR-F feels planted in fast corners and holds a line with confidence. It has the committed, high-speed feel you expect from a true race bike.

Climbing Performance

This is not a dedicated climber’s bike, but it performs well when you can keep momentum going. On false flats and steadier canyon grades, the RCR-F feels efficient and smooth, rewarding a steady rhythm more than punchy accelerations.

Comfort and Fit

For a race bike, the RCR-F is more comfortable than expected. It deals with rough pavement well and never feels overly harsh. The integrated bar setup is a real plus, especially in the drops, where the ovalized shape makes the aggressive position feel natural on longer rides.

Who It’s For

The RCR-F makes the most sense for riders focused on:

  • racing
  • aero efficiency
  • flat and rolling terrain
  • a stiff, responsive ride feel

It makes less sense for newer road riders, riders wanting a more relaxed position, or anyone spending most of their time on steep climbing routes.
