All-New Orbea Wild

All-New Orbea Wild

While the changes to the platform might not be revolutionary, the updates are certainly wildly brilliant to take the new Orbea Wild to the next level. With a selection of builds, aluminum versus carbon frames, suspension choice and the ability to design your own Wild with Orbea’s customize program, the Wild definitely goes wild with options.

Using the newly revamped Bosch CX Performance for enhanced power, this motor incorporates all the latest eMTB technology. As Bosch’s latest full-power system, it offers quieter operation, a lighter overall weight and better software. Bosch's latest Performance CX motor is now 100 grams lighter than its predecessor and significantly quieter. It still delivers 85 Nm of torque and up to 340% assistance for the rider. Plus, it’s more responsive thanks to upgraded sensors that provide more precise power delivery.

While the new Santa Cruz Vala and Orbea Wild both feature CX Performance motor, only the Wild gives you a choice of 600Wh or 750Wh battery. Plus, you still have the option to add on a 250Wh range extender. That takes it all the way to 1000Wh!

Also new is Orbea’s Secure Battery System (SBS), which focuses on mounting the battery as low in the frame as possible to prevent movement and noise. While the battery isn’t easily removable (dropping the motor is necessary), this design choice helps enhance the overall stiffness and performance of the frame.

The Wild's geometry closely mirrors the previous model, with the exception of a slacker 63.5-degree head angle made possible by the 170mm fork. The chainstay length stays at 448mm across all sizes with the longer head tube lengths providing a generous amount of stack. This results in a taller front end and a more upright riding position for all sizes.

Much like the new release of the Orbea Rise, the Wild comes in both a longer suspension platform and a shorter (ST) suspension platform. The standard Wild lands at 170mm of travel while the ST version comes with 150mm. Additionally new to the platform is a mullet option with a 29” front wheel and 27.5” rear.

With the Orbea Wild starting to deliver in early November, we can't wait to get out on one and follow-up this tech review with a ride review! Contact us for more information on the Orbea Wild full power electric mountain bike.
