Beautiful Bicycle: Custom-Built Parlee Taos Offers Gravel Nirvana

Written by Nick Sowards, on May 02, 2025

Back in early March, Contender proudly welcomed Parlee Cycles, a Massachusetts-based  builder of high-end road and gravel bikes. Now, with this custom-built Parlee Taos gravel bike the object of our affection, we’re thrilled to spend a bit more time with this iconic brand and beautiful bike.

Custom Beauty: A Closer Look at This Parlee Taos Gravel Bike

So what makes this bike stand out? Let’s start with the frame. The Taos features Parlee’s monocoque carbon construction, creating a light, responsive platform that’s stiff where it counts but smooth enough to tame rough backroads and rowdy gravel alike. The matte finish with subtle lime accents adds a sharp, distinctive aesthetic that looks just as fast as it rides.

Groupset, Wheels, Cockpit, and Saddle

This particular build is dialed in with a SRAM Force AXS drivetrain, offering precise wireless shifting across a wide 46/33t chainring and 10–46t cassette—perfect for everything from steep fire roads to fast-paced group rides. ZIPP 303 Firecrest wheels, with Panaracer Gravelking 45c tires keep things rolling smoothly, while CushCore gravel inserts deliver added comfort and (flat-free) peace of mind on technical descents.

Rounding things out, the carbon cockpit features an FSA K-Force AGX handlebar and stem, while a Parlee carbon seatpost, paired with a Fizik Tempo Aliante saddle, offers added comfort for all-day adventures. Bottomline: this isn’t just a gravel bike—it’s a gorgeous, purpose-built gravel machine, ready for wherever the road (or lack thereof) might take you.
