Beautiful Bicycle: ENVE Fray, An All-Road Masterclass
ENVE has always taken a slightly different approach to frame and bike design.
Rather than building just frames or chasing marginal gains in isolation, the Utah-based company has instead focused on building complete systems—frame, wheels, cockpit, saddle and seatpost—which are engineered to work together as a cohesive whole. The Fray is perhaps the clearest expression of that philosophy: a high-end, all-road bike designed with balance, integration, and real-world ride quality as the priority.
Finished in ENVE’s striking Agave Blue, our latest Beautiful Bicycle leans fully into the company's ethos. ENVE frame. ENVE wheels. ENVE cockpit. ENVE saddle and seatpost. The result is a build that feels deliberate from top to bottom--visually cohesive, mechanically consistent, and quietly confident on the road.
Positioned as ENVE’s all-road platform, the Fray offers generous tire clearance and a composed ride over imperfect pavement. This particular build, however, intentionally skews road-forward. Rolling on 700 x 30 tires with a top-tier road drivetrain (SRAM Red), it prioritizes efficiency and responsiveness, while still preserving the versatility that defines the Fray.

Frame: All-Road Platform, Road-Bike Soul
As noted above, the Fray frame balances modern road geometry with clearance for wider tires, allowing riders to push beyond pristine pavement without sacrificing the handling and feedback of a true road bike. ENVE’s carbon layup prioritizes stability and comfort under load, making it well suited for long days and varied surfaces. The Agave Blue finish underscores the Fray’s clean lines and classic silhouette. More timeless, less trendy.

Drivetrain & Braking: Modern Road Performance
SRAM Red AXS anchors the build, delivering crisp wireless shifting and intuitive ergonomics. Paired with a Red AXS power meter crankset, the drivetrain offers precise gearing and bulletproof data for structured training or long endurance rides. SRAM Red brakes round things out with powerful, consistent stopping performance.

Wheels & Tires: Tarmac Speed, All-Road Clearance
ENVE SES 3.2 wheels are a natural match for the Fray’s road-leaning intent. Light, responsive, and predictable in crosswinds, they emphasize efficiency over outright aero gain. Mounted with Vittoria Corsa Pro 700 x 30 tires, the setup balances low rolling resistance with added comfort and grip; fast on smooth pavement, but confident and capable when the road turns to dusty double-track, or chunky single-track.

Cockpit & Contact Points: ENVE Integration, Done Right
Up front, the ENVE SES AR bar and Aero In-Route stem deliver clean integration and a refined fit range without overcomplicating the front end. ENVE bar tape adds subtle cushioning without dulling feedback. Mid bike, an ENVE Aero seatpost and ENVE x Selle Italia Boost SLR saddle complete the system, reinforcing ENVE’s end-to-end approach to ride quality and ergonomics.
