Beautiful Bicycle: OPEN UP 2.0

While the OPEN UP 2.0 has been out for almost a year now, there is still something exciting about seeing one built up and headed out to a customer. At first glance, this one could easily be mistaken for the OPEN UPPER Concept, but it is in fact the UP 2.0. The raw carbon frame is finished with a clear coat that leaves the material visible and gives the bike a subtle depth in different light. The rest of the build stays simple and understated, which suits the frame particularly well.

Frame Detail

The raw carbon finish is what stands out most on this UP 2.0. Beneath the clear coat, the carbon varies naturally across the tubes and becomes especially noticeable around the head tube, fork crown, and seat cluster. The glossy finish brings out those details without adding any extra color or decoration. It is a straightforward treatment that gives the frame plenty of character on its own.

Drivetrain

SRAM Force XPLR AXS handles the drivetrain with 160 mm cranks, a 48t Aero direct-mount chainring, and a 10-46t 13-speed cassette. The large Aero chainring keeps the crank area tidy and works well with the otherwise simple build. A Wolf Tooth chain guide adds a little extra security up front. It is a clean, practical setup that feels right at home on the UP.

Wheels & Tires

Reserve 40|44 CL GR wheels are paired with DT Swiss 350 hubs and 40 mm Pirelli Cinturato Gravel H tires. The deeper carbon rims give the bike a solid stance without feeling oversized, while the 40 mm tires fit neatly within the frame. The Cinturato Gravel H tread keeps things fairly low-profile and suits the all-road character of the build. Altogether, the wheel and tire setup feels well proportioned to the bike.

Cockpit & Contact Points

The OPEN B.A.R one-piece cockpit keeps the front end clean and uncomplicated. Its carbon construction works naturally with the frame, while black tape and SRAM Force controls keep everything consistent. The small computer mount neatly attaches to the front of the bar without drawing much attention. A Specialized Power Comp saddle completes the contact points.
