Beautiful Bicycle: OPEN WIDE

Beautiful Bicycle: OPEN WIDE

Written by Evan Thomas, on March 06, 2026

Finished in bright turquoise with a wide-ranging mullet Shimano Di2 drivetrain, this OPEN WIDE is built for riders who want a single bike that can do it all. It combines the WIDE's generous tire clearance with performance-driven components like ENVE bars, ZIPP gravel wheels, and gearing that handles steep climbs and fast pavement with equal authority. The result is a bike ready for any surface, any ride, without compromise.

Frame

The WIDE frameset blurs category lines, offering ample tire clearance while staying fast and responsive. Capable of accommodating tires up to 700 x 46c (or 650b x 2.4), it opens up chunky singletrack, rutted dirt roads, and everything in between, while remaining sharp and efficient on pavement. This is a bike for riders who want to chase adventure without being confined by terrain.

Drivetrain & Breaking

A mullet Shimano Di2 drivetrain blends gravel and mountain bike technologies for full-range performance. The GRX RX820 crankset and RX825 hydraulic disc brakes provide refined ergonomics and precise modulation. In the rear, an XTR Di2 derailleur paired with a 10-51t cassette ensures steep climbs and fast paved sections are equally manageable. The wide-range cassette removes “I wish I had a lower gear” moments while keeping top-end speed intact. Di2 integration delivers crisp, reliable shifts under any load.

Wheels & Tires

Zipp 303 XPLR SW wheels wrapped in Schwalbe G-One R tires (700c x 45mm) excel across mixed surfaces from the first pedal stroke. Purpose-built for gravel, the 303 XPLR SW combines an ultra-wide rim profile with lightweight construction, making it fast, stable, and capable on rough terrain. The wide rim allows for lower tire pressures, smoothing vibrations, improving cornering grip, and keeping traction high on climbs. Paired with the fast-rolling Schwalbe G-One R, these wheels deliver the perfect balance of speed, comfort, and control—oh yeah, and they look absolutely killer too.

Cockpit & Contact Points

An ENVE SES AR Road IN-Route Handlebar paired with an ENVE Carbon Road Stem offers subtle flare and a modern drop shape, delivering comfort on long rides and control on technical terrain. ENVE's carbon construction keeps weight down while damping vibration. The Specialized Power Pro Mirror saddle features a short-nose design and body-geometry-mapped padding, providing comfort for aggressive positions and long days in the saddle, from fast paved stretches to technical descents.
