Beautiful Bicycle: Custom TIME Scylon Is A Rolling Work Of Art
We live in a golden age of bikes, and bike content. Open your feed, and it’s a parade of S-Works, Dogmas, and Teammachines. All beautiful, all fast... and yet, somehow, all starting to blend together. The top-tier now feels common, and truly standout builds have become a rare sight.
But every once in a while, something breaks through the noise. This TIME Scylon, custom-built by Contender, is exactly that. It’s a reminder that with vision, patience, and attention to detail, a bike can still stop you in your tracks. This one doesn’t just raise the bar—it redefines it.

Big Picture | A Premium Build—With a Price Tag to Match
Even in the world of bespoke, top-tier builds, a $20,000 price tag turns heads. Yes, twenty thousand. So, what makes this TIME Scylon Gen 2 so next-level? In short: total obsession and a painstaking attention to detail to every facet and component of the bike. From the carbon frame to ceramic pulleys, every detail has been selected, tuned, and elevated. While major brands like Shimano or SRAM cater to the high-end masses, boutique European brands make their mark by pushing into higher, more bespoke tiers, offering performance parts so rare and refined, they transform the entire ride experience.

Frame | Carbon Weaving Artistry, Refined to Perfection
Released in spring 2025, the TIME Scylon Gen 2 is a rare sight stateside (check out our original post on the Scylon here). TIME’s carbon-weaving process is one of the most advanced in the industry, delivering flawless layups and a distinct visual texture. The exposed carbon weave beneath the graphics highlights the craftsmanship, and unlike many high-end frames, this one truly stands apart, not just in ride feel, but in aesthetics as well.

Cockpit Design | Slicing Through The Air, Quite Literally
An aero-specific frame like the Scylon deserves an aero-specific handlebar. In this case, this rider went with the ENVE Pro Aero One-piece bar-stem combo. This is one of the most premium, beautiful options on the market today, and in this case, the customer was willing to wait for perfection. Those with a keen eye might notice these bars are bolted to the frame via a Chris King Gloss Black Aeroset, to make it cross-compatible, another gorgeous little touch.

Wheels | Engineering Rarity & Boutique Design, On Full Display
The crown jewel of this build? Lightweight’s Fernweg 63 EVO PRO D wheelset. At just over 1,400 grams with a 63mm depth, these wheels are engineering marvels, and rarely seen in the U.S. With their full-carbon monocoque design and rim-to-rim spoke layout, they offer a unique blend of stiffness, acceleration, and aerodynamics.
Built for a longtime friend of the shop with strong wheel preferences. He was chasing a specific ride feel reminiscent of the old Mavic Cosmic Carbone SLR, known for its unique Rim-to-Rim spokes that ran through the hub and extended to the opposite side of the rim. The Fernwegs, with their similarly continuous spoke design, hit that rare mark of responsive, razor-sharp handling, making them the right wheelset for this rider.

Bearings & Details | Where Slow Is Smooth, And Smooth Is Fast
It’s the little things that separate “nice” from next-level. On this build, that means a full suite of CeramicSpeed components: bottom bracket, oversized pulley wheels (OSPW), and ceramic bearings throughout. Together, these upgrades slash drivetrain friction and improve efficiency, all while delivering an ultra-smooth ride. Expensive? Yes. Worth it? Absolutely. Especially for riders chasing every marginal gain, along with an aesthetic that is sure to turn heads, and to start conversations.

Drivetrain | Crisp, Sleek Shifting–But for the Masses
Shimano Dura-Ace handles the core shifting and braking duties. You know, the basic stuff, because when it comes to race-ready reliability, it’s still the gold standard. That said, this build takes things a step further with a CeramicSpeed waxed chain and OSPW system. This rider also chose to pair the Dura-Ace drivetrain a 4iiii power meter, ensuring this bike can deliver robust training data, along with the aesthetics. Crisp, quiet, and efficient, this drivetrain is in rarefied air, along with the rest of the bike.
