Taking the Routt Less Pedaled with the Moots Routt 45

Moots Cycles has always done things a bit differently. Their first product, a steel road bike frame, adopted the name Moots after an alligator-shaped pencil eraser superhero, imagined up by founder Kent Eriksen. This frameset was soon followed by a wide range of mountain bike framesets featuring their Why Be Beat (YBB) soft-tail suspension design. In 1991, they started building with titanium, and have make bicycles out of titanium ever since. This custom Moots Routt 45 build is the result of this genesis, built for all-road exploits and getting off the beaten path. The Moots Routt 45 gravel road bike is named after Routt National Forest, found in the heart of northern Colorado. Not only is it close to Moots' headquarters, it is home to part of the Continental Divide Trail. To tackle the road less pedaled, the frame features requisite disc brakes, which pair with slightly longer chainstays to house massive 45c tires. Titanium shines with a forgiving and efficient ride quality carefully combined with an unparalleled level of durability making it an excellent choice for this bike’s intended adventuring purposes. Combined, the Routt 45 makes for a ride that offers long distance versatility, comfort, and superior ride quality. The rest of the bike is underscored by it's smart choice in spec. The latest Shimano Ultegra drivetrain feels seriously polished, and with an 11-34t cassette it offers low gearing for long days in the saddle. An Easton seatpost, stem, and AX gravel-specific handlebars offer high performance without pretense, and the Fabric Scoop saddle does the same thing. The Stan's Arch alloy wheelset, wrapped in meaty WTB Byway 650 x 47b tires, roll over mixed terrain smoothly and reliably. There really is something special about a titanium bike, especially one as dedicated to adventure as this Moots Routt 45. Who knew an alligator-shaped pencil eraser superhero would have this kind of staying power?
