Gunlock Gravel Loop

This hybrid road and gravel loop is a great way to spend a long morning, afternoon or the better part of a nice day in the St George area. Starting in the laid back town of Santa Clara, this "lollipop" route starts you out with a nice eleven or so mile warmup on the road leading out of town before you hit the gravel and begin a sustained yet scenic twelve mile climb. About 1100' later you'll begin the fun, fast decent down towards Gunlock State Park.

Once you make the right turn onto Gunlock Road, it's smooth sailing all the way back to Santa Clara. If you're in the mood for an interesting diversion, swing into Gunlock State Park and see the man-made "Gunlock Falls".

While only less than half un-paved, this classic route is fun, relatively fast and a great way to see the area. Offshoots abound within the loop as well, if you want to do some extra exploring. Bring plenty of liquids and snacks, especially if you decide to extend the route.
