The Colnago G5-X SRAM Red XPLR is a carbon gravel bike for riders looking to combine a dedicated gravel drivetrain with a wide-rim wheel setup and an integrated cockpit. Its monocoque carbon frame and carbon fork belong to an entirely new G5-X platform, developed around the demands of modern gravel riding rather than as a revision of the G4-X. Revised geometry is intended to support control on rough gravel and challenging descents.
The SRAM RED XPLR AXS E1 1x13 drivetrain uses a 40T chainring and a 10-46T cassette. This single-chainring configuration provides a range of ratios for changing gradients without a front derailleur. RED disc brakes are paired with 160 mm rotors front and rear, while the frame's component interfaces include a BSA 68 mm bottom bracket and a UDH-compatible rear end.
Zipp 303 XPLR SW wheels distinguish this build from the Vision-equipped G5-X options. Their carbon hookless rims have a 54 mm height and 32 mm internal width, with Zipp ZR1 Disc Brake hubs and Centerlock rotor interfaces. The supplied tires are Goodyear XPLR Inter TLR 700x50. The frame accommodates up to 53 mm nominal tire width, providing generous clearance for gravel use; frame clearance and wheel-specific tire compatibility remain separate considerations when changing tires.
The CC.01 Wide integrated cockpit carries the controls and routes cables internally for a tidy arrangement. A Selle Italia Novus saddle is supported by a round 27.2 mm Colnago carbon seatpost.
The G5-X also makes space for the practical side of a long ride. Internal downtube storage sits behind a removable access plate, and mounting points on the top tube, downtube and fork expand carrying options beyond the standard bottle positions. These provisions let the rider configure the bike around racing, a long mixed-surface route or a bikepacking trip while retaining the RED drivetrain, Zipp wheels and integrated cockpit that define this version.
