The Colnago G5-X SRAM Rival XPLR is a carbon gravel bike for riders who want to move between fast roads, rough tracks and longer adventures without changing their approach to the ride. Built around an entirely new gravel platform rather than a revision of the G4-X, it combines a monocoque carbon frame with a carbon fork and geometry developed for control on rough surfaces and demanding descents.
Tire clearance is central to that versatility. The frame accommodates tires up to a nominal 53 mm wide, while this build comes equipped with Pirelli Cinturato Gravel RH 700x50 TLR tires. Their generous volume gives riders room to prioritize comfort and grip when smooth gravel turns broken or loose. Vision TC45 Carbon wheels complete the setup with 45 mm rims, a 23 mm internal width and a tubeless-ready clincher design.
The SRAM Rival XPLR E1 1x13 drivetrain pairs a 40T chainring with a 10-46T cassette, keeping the front end simple while providing a spread of gears for changing terrain. Matching Rival disc brakes use 160 mm rotors at both ends. A BSA 68 mm bottom bracket and UDH-compatible rear interface are among the frame's clearly defined component standards.
For longer days, the G5-X provides internal downtube storage and mounting positions on the top tube, downtube and fork, in addition to the standard bottle positions. The storage compartment is accessed through a removable downtube plate; the storage bag and repair kit are not included. These carrying options let the rider organize supplies around the length and demands of the route.
A Deda Superzero Gravel Alloy handlebar and Colnago SR10 Alloy stem form the cockpit, with fully integrated cable routing for a tidy finish. The Selle Italia Novus saddle sits on a round 27.2 mm Colnago carbon seatpost. Together, these details make this Rival build a versatile starting point for gravel racing, all-day riding and bikepacking.
