RockyMounts BackStage Bike Rack

The RockyMounts BackStage is a premium platform hitch rack designed for riders who want secure bike transport without sacrificing access to the rear of their vehicle. As the industry's first 180-degree swing-away platform rack, the BackStage allows the entire rack to swing 180 degrees away from the vehicle, providing unobstructed access to cargo areas, tailgates, hatchbacks, and rear doors even while bikes remain loaded.

Built on RockyMounts' proven MonoRail platform, the BackStage combines convenience, durability, and ease of use for everything from daily rides to extended road trips. Its no-frame-contact design secures bikes by the front wheel, helping protect frame finishes while providing a stable and secure hold during transport. This makes it an excellent choice for carbon frames, custom paint, and modern mountain, gravel, and road bikes.

When rear access isn't required, the rack can be tilted down 30 degrees for easier hatch access or folded flat against the vehicle when not in use. RockyMounts' premium 3-axis anti-wobble system minimizes rack movement and creates a solid connection between the rack and hitch for a quieter, more confident ride.

The BackStage carries up to two bikes with a maximum capacity of 60 pounds per bike and 120 pounds total. It accommodates wheel sizes from 20-inch to 29-inch and tire widths ranging from narrow road tires to 5.0-inch fat bike tires. The rack also supports wheelbases from 36 to 50 inches, making it compatible with a wide variety of bike styles.

Designed exclusively for 2-inch receiver hitches, the BackStage includes a locking hitch bolt and cable lock that are keyed alike for added convenience and security. Riders should note that the rack is not compatible with bikes equipped with fenders and does not accept add-on extensions. For many cargo vans, including Sprinter, Transit, and ProMaster models, an 8-inch hitch extension may be required to ensure adequate door clearance.
