Beautiful Bicycle: Colnago Y1Rs - World Champion

With the Road World Championships underway in Montréal, this Colnago Y1Rs’ World Champion colors feel especially fitting. Tadej Pogačar is absent following injuries sustained in a crash at La Vuelta, but the rainbow finish remains a nod to his success. This build takes that racing connection in a slightly different direction, pairing Campagnolo Super Record 13 with ENVE SES 4.5 PRO wheels.

Frame Details

The Y1Rs takes aero bike design in a pretty wild direction, with deep tube profiles and a curved down tube forming part of an aerodynamic package that extends through the cockpit. The distinctive DEFY seatpost junction serves two purposes: improving airflow around the seatpost and adding compliance beneath the saddle. The black finish puts those unconventional shapes front and center, with rainbow bands across the fork and top tube.

Drivetrain

Campagnolo Super Record 13 takes this build away from the UAE team specification while staying true to Colnago’s Italian roots. A Record 13 power meter crankset pairs 52/36 chainrings with a 10–33 cassette, with Super Record brakes completing the group. Colnago and Campagnolo is a familiar pairing, even on a bike this unconventional.

Wheels & Tires

The ENVE SES 4.5 PRO wheels bring the build directly back to its UAE connection, developed with input from Pogačar and UAE Team Emirates–XRG. Their 49 mm front and 55 mm rear rims combine aerodynamic depth with an emphasis on low weight. Continental Grand Prix 5000 S TR tires in 30 mm complete the setup.

Cockpit & Contact Points

The Colnago CC.Y1 cockpit is integral to the Y1Rs’ aero design, with a gull-wing shape developed to limit airflow separation over the bar. Its branching profile makes the front end just as distinctive as the seatpost junction. A Specialized S-Works Romin EVO with Mirror saddle and Shimano Dura-Ace pedals complete the build.
