Beautiful Bicycle: Orbea Occam LT - MyOrbea Custom

There are plenty of ways to make a bike your own, but few are quite as obvious as starting with hot pink and blue.

This Orbea Occam LT M10 came through Orbea’s customization program, now called MyOrbea Custom, with a finish that completely changes the character of the bike. The two-tone frame is unapologetically bright, while the black components and Factory suspension give the rest of the build a much more restrained foundation.

Underneath the paint is still an Occam LT, built around the versatility of a modern trail bike and finished with a straightforward parts mix meant to be ridden.

The Build

The build starts with Fox Factory suspension front and rear, including a 160mm Fox 36 Factory with the GRIP X damper. The Kashima-coated suspension stands out against the pink frame without competing with a finish that already has plenty of personality.

A mechanical Shimano XT drivetrain keeps things familiar, with a 10-51t cassette paired to Race Face Turbine cranks and a 32t chainring. Shimano XT four-piston brakes handle stopping duties, while Oquo MC32TEAM wheels are wrapped in a Maxxis Assegai up front and Minion DHR II out back.

Up front, an OC Mountain Control MC10 carbon bar with 35mm rise keeps the cockpit simple. Nothing about the component selection feels overly complicated, which lets the frame and its custom finish remain the obvious centerpiece.

Orbea Customization Process

The color combination is what immediately separates this Occam from a standard production bike, but paint is only part of what Orbea’s customization program offers.

Through MyOrbea Custom, eligible bikes can be configured with different colors and finishes along with available component and ergonomic choices. Orbea is able to offer that flexibility because its bikes are painted and assembled at its headquarters rather than being treated strictly as fixed, preconfigured builds.

That makes the process particularly interesting on a bike like the Occam LT. The underlying platform stays familiar, but the final bike can feel considerably more personal before it ever reaches the shop. This one certainly does.
