Orbea Orca Aero

The Orbea Orca Aero is a next-generation aerodynamic road bike built around a complete rider-and-bike system approach to speed. Developed under Orbea’s Aero 360º philosophy, it is designed to reduce drag across real-world racing conditions by optimizing how the rider interacts with the bike over the course of a race.

Built on Orbea’s OMX carbon monocoque platform, the new Orca Aero delivers a claimed 21-watt system-level improvement over the previous generation, achieved through refined aerodynamic shaping, improved rider positioning, and full integration across frame, cockpit, and component systems. A refined head tube reduces frontal area, while the fork and downtube are shaped to manage airflow more effectively across changing wind conditions. A keel-style bottom bracket design improves transition airflow through a high-pressure zone, while slimmer tube profiles and a more integrated rear triangle reduce overall drag without compromising stiffness.

The Orca Aero extends its aerodynamics beyond the frame. Aero-optimized bottle cages and positioning, a fully integrated OC carbon cockpit with internal routing, and a streamlined service box all reduce drag.

Geometry remains race-focused, providing a low and aggressive position for maximize stability and power transfer at high speed. Extensive fit adjustability allows riders to fine-tune position for optimal aerodynamic efficiency, while size-specific tuning ensures consistent handling and responsiveness across the range. And with tire clearance up to 37mm, electronic drivetrain integration, and UDH compatibility, the Orca Aero is also built with modern racing evolution in mind.

ORBEA ORCA AERO: Thinking Ouside the Wind Tunnel

Wheel Size: 700c | Tire Clearance: up to 37mm

The all-new Orbea Orca Aero was designed around a simple idea: speed is not created in a single place, but layer by layer across the entire rider and bike system. Developed under Orbea’s Aero 360º philosophy and Total System Approach, the Orca Aero reduces resistance from every angle, not just head-on wind, but also variable real-world conditions where races are actually decided.

Rather than optimizing the frame in isolation, Orbea focused on the ways that rider and machine work together over the course of an entire ride. The result is a claimed 21-watt system-level improvement over the previous generation, achieved through aerodynamic refinement, rider positioning, and full-bike integration tested across simulation, wind tunnel validation, and World Tour racing.

WHY THE ORBEA ORCA AERO STANDS OUT

With the Orca Aero, Orbea took a holistic approach to development, focusing on the idea that speed is a result of the complex interactions between rider position, frame shape, airflow behavior, and power transfer. The brand began by thinking outside the wind tunnel. Their Aero 360º approach focuses on real-world wind angles, changing race speeds, and rider movement. Every design decision was validated through computational modeling, controlled testing, and elite-level racing feedback. The outcome is a bike that delivers consistent aerodynamic performance across varied conditions, with relevant climbing and sprinting gains.

WHO SHOULD RIDE THE ORCA AERO?

The Orbea Orca Aero is designed for riders who prioritize sustained speed and aerodynamic efficiency over long, fast road efforts. It is best suited for sprinters, breakaway specialists, and high-speed all-round road racers riders focused on flat and rolling terrain performance. While capable everywhere, the Orca Aero’s defining strength is sustained speed in real race conditions where aerodynamic optimization and rider positioning decide outcomes.

WHAT CONTENDER BICYCLES LIKES ABOUT THE ORCA AERO

  • Balanced: We love how the Orca Aero blends measurable aerodynamic gains with sharp race handling.
  • Excellent Power Transfer: The OMX carbon chassis feels direct when accelerating and remains composed during high-speed riding.
  • Thoughtful Details: The integrated storage solution and clean cockpit integration reinforce the bike’s focus on modern aerodynamic performance while maintaining practical functionality for real-world racing and training.

FRAME MATERIAL

Built using Orbea’s stiff, race-focused OMX carbon layup process, the Orca Aero delivers efficient transfer and air-slicing speed. A reported 900g frame weight and a significant increase in global stiffness (up to 27.5%) allow the new Orca Aero to deliver explosive acceleration while maintaining aerodynamic stability at speed.

Geometry & Fit

The Orca Aero is designed around the idea that rider position and frame shape go hand-in-hand.

  • Low Bottom Bracket: Improved stability and reduced upper-body movement
  • Multiple Fit Configurations: 13 cockpit sizes and extensive spacer options
  • Dual Seatpost Offsets: Allows precise rider positioning
  • Wheel and Cockpit Integration: Designed to support stable high-speed airflow

This lower, more stable riding position reduces unwanted movement at speed, while extensive fit options allow precise rider positioning across a wide range of setups. The result is a more efficient system with reduced drag and improved control when it matters most.
