Beautiful Bicycle: BMC Teammachine R

Each Contender Custom build is created with a purpose, whether that is comfort, capability, performance, or another intentional goal. This latest BMC Teammachine R is built for all-out speed on race day. Every part selection is made with performance in mind, focusing on efficiency, aerodynamics, and speed without compromise. The result is a Teammachine R with a clear identity: a pure race bike built to go fast.

Frame Details

The BMC Teammachine R frameset is built without compromise, blending aerodynamics into a lightweight platform for race-day performance. Its aggressive tube shaping, integrated front end, and race-focused geometry give the bike a sharp, purposeful feel. The dark textured finish and bold yellow graphics add to that attitude, matching the frame’s fast, aggressive silhouette.

Drivetrain

To maximize efficiency, SRAM Red is the groupset of choice. Featuring a 170mm crankset with 50/37t chainrings, this drivetrain is built to carry speed and respond quickly under effort. It is paired with a 10-36t cassette, giving just enough flexibility for steep gradients while keeping the gear jumps tight enough to push the pace everywhere.

Wheels & Tires

For a fast and efficient wheel package, this build uses DT Swiss ARC 1100 DiCut 55mm wheels. The deeper rim profile adds an aerodynamic advantage while still keeping the bike practical for varied race-day conditions. These wheels are equipped with DT 180 hubs, which feature DT Swiss ceramic SINC bearings for reduced rolling resistance. Pirelli P Zero Race TLR RS 28mm tires complete the setup, adding a fast race tire with the grip and volume needed for modern road racing. The wheels also give the bike much of its visual weight, grounding the sharp frame shapes with a strong, purposeful stance.

Cockpit & Contact Points

This build features BMC’s second-generation ICS Aero Cockpit, with a narrow 39cm flared profile that helps the rider stay aero on the hoods while adding comfort and control in the drops. To finish the touchpoints, the customer chose a Selle Italia SLR Carbon saddle. Its lightweight design and carbon rails keep the build race-focused while providing support for hard efforts. BMC Tacky Grip tape completes the cockpit, keeping the front end clean while ensuring a firm grip through high-intensity riding.
